Netmarble (251270.KS) Q1 2026: Net Profit Surges 163% on ₩320.8B HYBE Divestiture, Core Gaming Up 7%
A one-time equity disposal produced a striking headline; the underlying gaming business delivered a solid, unspectacular 7% operating lift — and the distinction matters.

Netmarble's consolidated net profit hit ₩210.9 billion in Q1 2026, a 163% surge from ₩80.2 billion a year earlier — but this milestone is primarily a financial engineering story rather than a gaming outperformance story. The decisive contribution came from a ₩252.6 billion non-operating gain recorded when Netmarble sold 1,280,000 HYBE shares in February 2026 for ₩320.8 billion. Strip that transaction out and the company's core operating performance — ₩53.1 billion operating profit (+6.8%), ₩651.7 billion revenue (+4.5%) — reflects the steady, incremental recovery that has been underway since 2024. With mobile titles generating 84% of consolidated sales and overseas markets contributing 79%, Netmarble operates as a structurally global, asset-light publisher whose quarterly earnings are increasingly being read through the lens of its financial investment portfolio as much as its game slate. This quarter, the investment ledger dominated the conversation.
