Samsung Securities posted consolidated net profit of ₩450.9 billion in Q1 2026, up 81.5% from ₩248.4 billion a year earlier and the highest quarterly net profit in the firm's history — capturing nearly 45% of its entire FY2025 annual net profit of approximately ₩1.007 trillion in a single three-month window. The driver was unambiguous: combined KOSPI and KOSDAQ quarterly trading volume reached an all-time high of ₩3,931.6 trillion, a 264.5% surge versus the prior-year period, channeling an exceptional wave of commission revenue directly into earnings. Net commission income more than doubled, rising 122.9% to ₩516.9 billion, and brokerage alone accounted for 57.5% of total pre-tax profit. Operating leverage amplified the gains — expenses rose only 16.8% against a 53.9% jump in net operating revenue — widening the operating margin from 56.8% to 67.2%. The record stands on its own terms; what it cannot do is answer how much of that 67% margin survives a return to a more ordinary trading environment.
