Mondelez Internationalについて
Mondelez International is a global snacking company built around biscuits, chocolate, gum, candy, and baked snacks, with brands such as Oreo, Cadbury, Milka, Ritz, belVita, Toblerone, Trident, and Halls. Biscuits and baked snacks together with chocolate account for the large majority of net revenues, while gum and candy and a smaller beverages and cheese business round out the mix. Geographically the business is split into Latin America, Asia Middle East and Africa, Europe, and North America, with Europe and North America together generating the bulk of sales. Chocolate, anchored by Cadbury in the United Kingdom, India, and Australia and by Milka in continental Europe, is typically the largest profit contributor alongside global biscuits led by Oreo.
Serious holders track cocoa and dairy input costs, which move the gross margin more than almost any other variable, and the pricing elasticity that determines whether cost pass-through sticks with consumers and retailers. Concentration among large grocery and club retailers in developed markets gives buyers meaningful negotiating power, while foreign exchange translation matters because a majority of revenue is earned outside the United States. Investors also watch the pace of portfolio reshaping around the coffee and confectionery equity stakes, the disciplined bolt-on acquisition record, capital returns through dividends and buybacks, exposure to emerging-market currencies and inflation, and regulatory pressure on sugar, packaging, and marketing to children.
The company traces its lineage to the National Dairy Products Corporation, formed in 1923, which became Kraftco and later Kraft, and to Nabisco, whose roots reach back to the 1898 formation of the National Biscuit Company. Philip Morris acquired Kraft in 1988 and General Foods earlier, combining them and eventually adding Nabisco through the 2000 acquisition, before spinning the food business off as Kraft Foods Inc. in 2007. The transformative Cadbury acquisition closed in 2010. In 2012 the company split into a North American grocery business, retaining the Kraft name, and a global snacks business renamed Mondelez International, headquartered in Chicago and listed on Nasdaq under MDLZ.
Mondelez sells primarily through grocery chains, mass merchandisers, club stores, convenience retailers, and a growing e-commerce channel, with distributors and wholesalers handling much of the emerging-market route to market. Contracts with large retailers typically involve annual trade terms covering shelf placement, promotional calendars, and slotting, so the effective realized price depends heavily on promotion depth rather than list price alone. Competitive position rests on globally scaled brand equity, distribution density in over a hundred countries, and manufacturing footprint close to demand. Its principal rivals include Nestle, Mars, Hershey, Ferrero, and Lotus Bakeries in chocolate and biscuits, alongside private label, with emerging markets contributing a meaningful and structurally faster-growing share of revenue than developed markets.
