關於JPMorgan Chase
JPMorgan Chase & Co. is a diversified financial holding company operating through four principal segments: Consumer & Community Banking, which serves retail depositors, credit card holders, small businesses and home lenders under the Chase brand; the Corporate & Investment Bank, which houses markets trading, investment banking advisory, securities services and treasury services for institutional and corporate clients; Commercial Banking, serving mid-sized and larger corporates, real estate investors and municipalities; and Asset & Wealth Management, which oversees investment management for institutions and private banking for wealthy families. Consumer banking generates the largest share of revenue on the strength of a vast deposit base and card portfolio, while the Corporate & Investment Bank typically drives the biggest swings in profitability given the operating leverage in markets and advisory fees.
Because the firm is designated a global systemically important bank, holders track its capital stack closely, particularly the common equity tier 1 ratio relative to the regulatory buffer set through the annual Federal Reserve stress test, which effectively gates buybacks and dividends. Also watched are net interest income sensitivity to the shape of the yield curve, deposit beta behavior, credit costs across cards and commercial real estate, trading value-at-risk, and the sizeable held-to-maturity securities book. Governance considerations include the long-tenured leadership of Jamie Dimon and succession planning, index weight in major U.S. bank benchmarks, litigation and regulatory reserves, and the ongoing negotiation over Basel III endgame capital rules.
The institution traces its lineage to the Bank of the Manhattan Company, chartered in 1799, and to J.P. Morgan & Co., which took its modern form in the late nineteenth century under the merchant banker of the same name. The current entity was created in 2000 when J.P. Morgan & Co. merged with Chase Manhattan, itself the product of a 1996 combination with Chemical Banking. The 2004 acquisition of Bank One brought Jamie Dimon into leadership, and the 2008 crisis accelerated further consolidation through the government-assisted purchases of Bear Stearns and Washington Mutual. The 2023 assumption of First Republic Bank added a private-banking franchise. The company is incorporated in Delaware and headquartered in New York City.
Revenue is generated from two structural sources: net interest income earned on the spread between funding costs, largely retail and wholesale deposits, and the yield on loans and securities; and non-interest income from card interchange, investment banking fees paid on transactions and underwritings, asset management fees on client balances, market-making spreads, and custody and payments processing. Customers span retail households, small and mid-market businesses, multinational corporations, sovereigns, and institutional asset owners. Competitive position rests on scale in deposits, a full-service product suite few peers match, and heavy technology investment. Chief rivals include Bank of America, Citigroup and Wells Fargo domestically, and Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley in capital markets. North America generates the majority of revenue.
