Autodeskについて

Autodesk, Inc. develops design, engineering, and content-creation software used across architecture, construction, product manufacturing, and media production. Its flagship AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT products remain widely used for two-dimensional and three-dimensional drafting, while the higher-value franchises center on Revit and the broader Architecture, Engineering and Construction Collection, the Product Design and Manufacturing Collection anchored by Inventor and Fusion, and the Media and Entertainment tools Maya and 3ds Max. Construction workflow software acquired under the Autodesk Construction Cloud brand, including BIM 360 and PlanGrid lineage products, sits alongside the design tools. The AEC segment typically generates the largest share of revenue and is the principal driver of operating profit, with manufacturing software the second contributor.

Serious holders track the pace and durability of the transition from perpetual licenses to term subscriptions and consumption-based access, together with the shift of billing arrangements toward an agency model with resellers, which reshapes reported revenue and free cash flow timing. Renewal rates, net revenue retention, and enterprise business agreement uptake are watched closely, as is exposure to construction and manufacturing capital-spending cycles. Software piracy in emerging markets, currency translation given a large non-U.S. book, and competition from Dassault, Siemens, Bentley, Trimble, and Nemetschek are recurring structural themes. Governance features include a single class of common stock, an activist-influenced board refresh, and a capital-allocation framework that has leaned heavily on share repurchases.

The company was founded in 1982 in Mill Valley, California, by John Walker and a group of programmers, and released AutoCAD the same year, riding the personal computer wave to become the dominant desktop drafting standard. It went public in 1985 and gradually expanded from two-dimensional drafting into three-dimensional modeling, adding Maya through the 2006 acquisition of Alias, Revit for building information modeling, and Moldflow, Delcam, and other manufacturing tools through the 2000s and 2010s. A decisive transformation began around 2014 when management ended perpetual license sales and moved to a subscription model, followed by construction-focused acquisitions of PlanGrid and BuildingConnected in 2018 and Innovyze in 2021. Autodesk is incorporated in Delaware and headquartered in San Francisco.

Customers range from individual architects and independent designers buying single seats online to global engineering firms, general contractors, industrial manufacturers, and film and game studios purchasing enterprise business agreements that bundle multiple products and named users. Distribution runs through a network of value-added resellers, an increasingly important direct e-commerce channel, and original equipment manufacturer bundling; under the agency model resellers act as agents of record while Autodesk contracts directly with the end customer. Competitive position rests on entrenched file formats, education-market seeding that trains future professionals on its tools, and the breadth of the AEC and manufacturing collections. Revenue is roughly balanced between the Americas, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific, with no single country outside the United States dominant.
