關於ServiceNow
ServiceNow, Inc. develops a cloud-based workflow automation platform built around a single data model called the Now Platform, which customers extend across information technology, employee, customer, and increasingly industry-specific processes. Its original and still largest product family is IT Service Management, alongside IT Operations Management, IT Asset Management, and Security Operations, which together anchor the platform in enterprise technology departments. Adjacent suites cover Human Resources Service Delivery, Customer Service Management, and low-code app development through the Creator Workflows line. Subscription revenue from these SaaS products generates the overwhelming majority of the top line and effectively all of the profit; professional services and training remain a small, deliberately low-margin complement meant to seed platform adoption.
Investors watch subscription renewal behavior and net expansion within the installed base of large enterprises, since growth depends heavily on selling additional workflow modules to existing customers rather than pure logo acquisition. Federal and other public-sector exposure is meaningful and brings FedRAMP, IL5, and comparable certification requirements. The company is a large-cap constituent of major U.S. indices and carries a significant weight in software-focused benchmarks. Stock-based compensation, capital returns through buybacks, treatment of remaining performance obligations, and disclosures around generative-AI SKUs are recurring focal points. Governance topics include founder-era leadership succession, board composition, and the ongoing balance between reinvestment and margin expansion as the business scales.
ServiceNow was founded in 2003 in San Diego by Fred Luddy, a former chief technology officer of Peregrine Systems, originally under the name Glidesoft and later renamed Service-now.com before adopting its current form. The company relocated its headquarters to Santa Clara, California and completed an initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange in 2012. Frank Slootman led the company through its early public-market expansion, succeeded by John Donahoe and then by Bill McDermott, who has driven the platform strategy beyond IT. Growth has come primarily from organic product development supplemented by tuck-in acquisitions of analytics, artificial-intelligence, and workflow specialists, rather than transformative mergers. The corporate structure remains a single reporting segment.
Customers are predominantly large enterprises and government agencies, including a substantial share of the Fortune 500 and Global 2000, sold to through a direct enterprise sales force augmented by global systems integrators such as Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG, and DXC that handle implementation. Contracts are multi-year subscriptions priced by user, module, and consumption of newer AI capabilities, with renewals and cross-sell of additional workflow products driving durable expansion. Competitive position rests on the single-platform data model, breadth of pre-built workflows, and switching costs embedded in configured processes, distinguishing it from Atlassian, BMC, Salesforce, Microsoft, and Oracle in overlapping niches. North America contributes the majority of revenue, with EMEA the largest international region.
