關於Chevron

Chevron Corporation is one of the world's largest integrated energy companies, with operations spanning the full hydrocarbon value chain. The upstream segment explores for and produces crude oil and natural gas across major basins including the U.S. Permian, the Gulf of Mexico, Kazakhstan's Tengiz field, Australian LNG, and West Africa, and is the dominant contributor to consolidated earnings. The downstream segment refines crude into gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, and petrochemical feedstocks, markets fuels through the Chevron and Texaco brands, and produces base oils and additives through the Oronite and lubricants businesses. A smaller but growing set of activities covers renewable fuels, hydrogen, carbon capture, and biofuels feedstocks, largely bolted on to existing infrastructure.

Investors track Chevron's reserve replacement ratio, production growth from the Permian and Tengiz expansion, and the balance between shareholder returns and reinvestment, given a stated preference for a rising per-share dividend sustained through the commodity cycle. Capital discipline, breakeven oil prices on new projects, and the pace of buybacks under a multi-year authorization are recurring focal points. Regulatory and litigation exposure — climate-related suits by U.S. states and municipalities, methane rules, and permitting for offshore and LNG assets — is material. Governance questions include board oversight of energy-transition strategy, executive compensation tied to returns on capital, and index weight within the S&P 500 energy sector, where Chevron sits alongside ExxonMobil as a benchmark constituent.

Chevron traces its lineage to the Pacific Coast Oil Company, founded in 1879 in California, which became Standard Oil Company (California), or Socal, after John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil bought it in 1900 and was later spun off in the 1911 antitrust breakup. Socal's 1930s Saudi Arabian concession seeded what became Aramco. The company adopted the Chevron name in 1984 after acquiring Gulf Oil in what was then the largest corporate merger in U.S. history. It merged with Texaco in 2001 to form ChevronTexaco, later shortened back to Chevron Corporation, acquired Unocal in 2005, and in 2023 closed the purchase of PDC Energy. The pending acquisition of Hess Corporation would add a stake in Guyana's Stabroek block.

Chevron's customers span refiners buying its equity crude, industrial and utility offtakers under long-term LNG contracts, wholesale fuel distributors and branded retail dealers, airlines purchasing jet fuel, and industrial buyers of lubricants, additives, and petrochemicals. Upstream realizations move with global benchmark prices for Brent, WTI, and Henry Hub, while LNG cargoes are sold under oil-linked and hub-linked contracts of varying tenor. Competitive position rests on low unit operating costs in the Permian, equity positions in advantaged long-life assets like Tengiz and Gorgon, refining scale on the U.S. West Coast and Gulf Coast, and an integrated marketing footprint. Its principal peers are ExxonMobil, Shell, BP, and TotalEnergies, with revenue meaningfully weighted toward the United States but with earnings substantially exposed to international upstream operations.
