關於Baker Hughes

Baker Hughes Company is an energy technology firm organized around two reporting segments. Oilfield Services & Equipment supplies drilling, completions, wireline, artificial lift, pressure pumping, and subsea and surface production systems to upstream operators, spanning both onshore and offshore basins. Industrial & Energy Technology sells gas turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, pumps, valves, and inspection and condition-monitoring instruments to LNG plants, midstream operators, refineries, petrochemical complexes, and increasingly to hydrogen, carbon capture, and data-center power customers. The Industrial & Energy Technology segment, anchored by the legacy Nuovo Pignone turbomachinery franchise for liquefied natural gas trains, has become the more visible earnings driver, while oilfield services provides scale and cash generation across the drilling cycle.

Serious holders watch the pace of global LNG project sanctions, since equipment orders for liquefaction trains translate into a multi-year backlog that smooths through the shorter oilfield cycle. Exposure to international and offshore spending, where Baker Hughes is comparatively strong, is tracked against the North American shale rig count, where it is comparatively lighter. Customer concentration among national oil companies, particularly in the Middle East, matters for pricing durability, as do sanctions and export-control regimes touching Russia, Iran, and Venezuela. Capital allocation centers on a regular dividend, opportunistic buybacks, and bolt-on acquisitions in industrial and new-energy niches. Governance points include the fully independent structure following General Electric's exit and the composition of the technology-heavy board.

The modern company traces to Baker Hughes Incorporated, itself formed by the 1987 merger of Baker International and Hughes Tool Company, two century-old drilling franchises. After Halliburton's proposed acquisition was abandoned in 2016 under antitrust pressure, Baker Hughes combined with General Electric's oil and gas division in 2017 to form BHGE, a majority GE-controlled entity. GE progressively divested its stake, and in 2019 the business was renamed Baker Hughes Company and began trading under the ticker BKR as an independent Delaware-incorporated company. A subsequent reorganization consolidated the prior four-segment structure into today's two segments, sharpening the distinction between the shorter-cycle oilfield franchise and the longer-cycle industrial and energy technology franchise.

Revenue comes from equipment sales, long-dated service and aftermarket contracts, and day-rate or activity-based service work at the wellsite. Oilfield customers are integrated majors, national oil companies, and independent exploration and production firms, who typically contract on a per-well or master-service basis with pricing tied to rig activity and completion intensity. Industrial customers sign multi-year supply agreements for turbomachinery packages, with substantial follow-on revenue from parts, upgrades, and remote monitoring across an installed base measured in decades. Competitively, Baker Hughes sits alongside SLB and Halliburton in oilfield services, though with a lighter North American pressure-pumping footprint, and against Siemens Energy and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in turbomachinery. International markets contribute the majority of revenue.
