Arista Networksについて

Arista Networks designs and sells high-performance data-center and campus networking systems, combining its own switches and routers with a Linux-based operating system called EOS that runs a single image across the product line. Revenue is dominated by ethernet switching platforms aimed at cloud, hyperscale, and large enterprise data centers, with a growing contribution from campus networking, routing, and cognitive Wi-Fi hardware. Software subscriptions and post-contract support, sold under the CloudVision umbrella and standard service agreements, form a meaningful recurring layer alongside the hardware. Product sales, particularly to hyperscale and Tier 2 cloud operators building large ethernet fabrics, generate the bulk of profit, with services carrying high margins but a smaller share of the top line.

Investors watch customer concentration closely, since a handful of hyperscale buyers, historically led by Microsoft and Meta, have accounted for a very large share of revenue and can shift capital spending in step with their own AI and cloud build cycles. Component sourcing is another structural question: the company relies on merchant silicon, principally from Broadcom, rather than designing its own switching ASICs. Governance features include a founder-led executive team, no dividend, and periodic share repurchases as the primary return of capital. Arista sits in the S&P 500 and is followed for its exposure to AI back-end networking, ethernet-versus-InfiniBand competition, and the durability of gross margins as mix shifts.

Arista was founded in 2004 in Santa Clara, California, by Andy Bechtolsheim, David Cheriton, and Kenneth Duda, initially under the name Arastra, and repositioned around merchant-silicon ethernet switching for cloud data centers as that market emerged. Jayshree Ullal joined as chief executive in 2008 and has led the company through its transition from startup to public issuer, with an initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange in June 2014. A protracted intellectual-property dispute with Cisco Systems, resolved in 2018, shaped its early public history. The company has grown largely organically, supplemented by targeted acquisitions such as Mojo Networks in cognitive Wi-Fi and Awake Security in network detection and response.

Arista sells primarily through a direct sales force supported by a network of value-added resellers and systems integrators, with products shipped as integrated switches, routers, and access points bundled with EOS and optional CloudVision management software. Customers are concentrated in cloud titans, large financial-services firms, service providers, and other data-heavy enterprises that buy through negotiated purchase orders rather than long dated take-or-pay contracts, so revenue visibility rests on customer capital-expenditure plans and lead-time commitments. Competitive position rests on EOS software consistency, ethernet performance at scale, and merchant-silicon economics, positioning it against Cisco, Juniper Networks, Nvidia's Mellanox unit, and white-box vendors. The United States generates the majority of revenue, with international sales rounding out the mix.
