KT (030200.KS) FY2025: Cloud Surges 27%, Revenue Climbs to ₩28.2T

South Korea's dominant telecom operator posts its sharpest top-line growth in years, with a Microsoft-backed cloud unit emerging as the new earnings engine — but headline profit improvement leans heavily on real estate windfalls and masks unresolved questions about core AX margin trajectory.

KT Group's FY2025 consolidated operating revenue of ₩28.2442 trillion marks a 6.9% advance from the prior year's ₩26.4312 trillion, driven by an accelerating cloud and digital services portfolio that now accounts for nearly a third of gross segment revenue. The Other segment — encompassing KT Cloud, KT Commerce, and content subsidiaries — grew 27.1% to ₩10.4279 trillion, outpacing the 4.0% expansion of the core ICT segment by a factor of nearly seven. Against that top-line momentum, DART-reported consolidated operating income reached approximately ₩2.4691 trillion, nominally more than triple the prior year; yet a substantial portion of that improvement reflects the one-time recognition of real estate development proceeds — particularly from the Gangbuk headquarters complex and the Gwangjin mixed-use project — together with the reversal of FY2024's approximately ₩1 trillion in personnel-related non-recurring charges. A Q4 drag from SIM-card replacement and breach-response expenditures related to the 2025 data security incident further complicates the clean read on operational profitability. As KT accelerates its repositioning as an "AICT (AI + ICT) Company," the Q1 2026 revenue run-rate of ₩6.7784 trillion confirms top-line momentum is holding, but disaggregating recurring business earnings from one-time tailwinds is essential to assessing the underlying margin trajectory.
