關於Zoetis
Zoetis Inc. is the world's largest pure-play animal health company, developing, manufacturing, and marketing medicines, vaccines, diagnostics, and genetic tests for livestock and companion animals. Its portfolio spans anti-infectives, vaccines, parasiticides, dermatology therapeutics, pain and sedation products, and monoclonal antibodies, sold under brands such as Apoquel, Cytopoint, Simparica, Revolution, and Librela. Revenue splits broadly between companion animal products—dogs, cats, and horses—and livestock products covering cattle, swine, poultry, fish, and sheep. The companion animal side, propelled by premium dermatology, parasiticide, and osteoarthritis pain franchises, has grown to generate the majority of sales and the bulk of profit, while livestock provides a steadier, lower-growth commercial anchor.
Serious holders track the durability of the dermatology and pain-management franchises, patent and regulatory exclusivity timelines, and the pace at which generic or biosimilar competitors erode legacy livestock products. Zoetis is regulated across dozens of jurisdictions by veterinary authorities including the U.S. FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine, the USDA, and the European Medicines Agency, and its manufacturing footprint carries the usual biologics quality and inspection risk. Distribution runs through veterinarians and veterinary buying groups rather than direct-to-consumer, giving the company both a moat and a concentration in that channel. As an S&P 500 constituent with a consistent buyback and dividend program, capital allocation discipline, foreign exchange exposure, and livestock cyclicality are recurring watch items.
Zoetis traces its origins to the animal health operations that Pfizer built and expanded over decades, most notably through Pfizer's 2003 acquisition of Pharmacia, which brought the former Upjohn animal health business into the fold. Pfizer separated the unit as Zoetis, listing it on the New York Stock Exchange in an initial public offering in early 2013 and completing a full spin-off later that year through an exchange offer. Since independence, the company has expanded into diagnostics via the 2018 acquisition of Abaxis and added parasiticide and specialty capabilities through smaller deals, while divesting selected medicated feed additive assets. It is headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey.
Zoetis sells almost entirely through veterinary professionals: companion animal products move via veterinary clinics and animal health distributors that supply those clinics, while livestock products reach producers through distributors, feed mills, and direct field sales to large integrators. Competitive position rests on scale in research and development, the breadth of a species-and-therapy portfolio no rival matches end to end, manufacturing depth in vaccines and biologics, and long-standing veterinarian relationships reinforced by technical services. Principal competitors include Merck Animal Health, Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health, Elanco, Virbac, and Ceva. The United States generates roughly half of revenue, with the remainder spread across Europe, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific markets.
