關於Palantir Technologies
Palantir Technologies Inc. builds data-integration and decision-support software that layers analytical, modeling, and workflow tools on top of an organization's disparate data sources. Its business divides into two principal platforms: Gotham, sold primarily to defense, intelligence, and other government agencies for mission planning, targeting, and investigations, and Foundry, sold to commercial enterprises for supply-chain, manufacturing, financial, and operational analytics. A newer layer, the Artificial Intelligence Platform, orchestrates large language models against customer data on top of both platforms. Government contracts have historically supplied the majority of revenue and the more predictable margin base, while the commercial book has been the swing factor in growth and in operating leverage.
Serious holders track customer concentration, since a handful of U.S. and allied government agencies contribute a disproportionate share of revenue and any single program cancellation can move results materially. Federal budget cycles, continuing resolutions, and security-clearance requirements shape both the sales cadence and the competitive moat. Governance features draw scrutiny: a multi-class share structure concentrates voting power with the founders through a Class F mechanism, and stock-based compensation has been a persistent dilution question. Index inclusion in the S&P 500 broadened the shareholder base and passive ownership. Other durable questions include international commercial traction, exposure to defense-procurement politics, and the pace at which AIP deployments convert from paid pilots into multi-year enterprise contracts.
Palantir was founded in 2003 in Palo Alto, California, by Peter Thiel, Alex Karp, Stephen Cohen, Joe Lonsdale, and Nathan Gettings, with early backing that included In-Q-Tel, the Central Intelligence Agency's venture arm. The company spent its first decade almost entirely inside the U.S. intelligence and defense community before Foundry extended the same ontology-based approach to commercial customers in the 2010s. Palantir remained private and closely held for seventeen years, listing on the New York Stock Exchange through a direct listing in September 2020 rather than a traditional IPO. It operates as a single reporting entity headquartered in Denver, Colorado, having relocated from Silicon Valley in 2020.
Customers include U.S. federal agencies such as the Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and various intelligence bodies, allied Western governments, and commercial enterprises across energy, healthcare, manufacturing, financial services, and aerospace. Government business typically runs through long-cycle procurement vehicles including prime contracts, subcontracts, and Other Transaction Authority agreements, while commercial deals move through a land-and-expand model that often begins with a paid pilot before scaling to enterprise-wide deployment. Competitive position rests on the ontology framework, security accreditations, and deep forward-deployed engineering rather than on price. Principal rivals include Booz Allen Hamburgic-style integrators and hyperscaler analytics stacks from Microsoft, Amazon, and Snowflake. North America generates the bulk of revenue.
