關於Intuit

Intuit Inc. is a financial-software company built around four operating segments: Small Business & Self-Employed, Consumer, Credit Karma, and ProTax. The Small Business & Self-Employed group centers on the QuickBooks family of accounting, payroll, payments, capital, and time-tracking products sold to small firms and independent workers, and it has grown into the largest contributor to segment operating income. The Consumer group is anchored by TurboTax, the dominant self-preparation tax software in the United States, and typically delivers the highest operating margins of any segment on a seasonal basis. Credit Karma runs a consumer finance platform monetized through lender referrals, while ProTax sells Lacerte and ProConnect software to professional tax preparers.

Structural questions for holders begin with the concentration of Consumer revenue in a single U.S. tax season, which compresses most of that segment's earnings into a few months and exposes results to IRS rule changes, filing deadline shifts, and periodic policy debates over government-run free filing. Credit Karma's revenue is tied to lender advertising budgets and consumer credit conditions, so it moves with the credit cycle. Regulatory attention from the FTC over past TurboTax marketing practices, ongoing scrutiny of AI features under development, index weight in the Nasdaq-100 and S&P 500, and a capital return policy skewed toward buybacks alongside a modest dividend also shape the long-term view.

Intuit was founded in 1983 by Scott Cook and Tom Proulx in Palo Alto, California, initially to sell Quicken, a personal-finance program for MS-DOS. The company went public in 1993 and acquired Chipsoft, the maker of TurboTax, the same year, establishing the tax franchise that still defines it. QuickBooks launched in 1992 and steadily displaced ledger books among small U.S. businesses. Later transformations include a shift from boxed software to a cloud subscription model over the 2010s, the divestiture of Quicken in 2016, the 2020 acquisition of Credit Karma, and the 2021 acquisition of email marketing platform Mailchimp. Headquarters remain in Mountain View, California.

Customers span three distinct groups: small businesses and self-employed workers paying monthly or annual QuickBooks subscriptions often bundled with payroll and payment processing; individual U.S. taxpayers who buy TurboTax on a seasonal, largely transactional basis with a rising share choosing assisted or full-service tiers; and Credit Karma members whose free credit-monitoring accounts are monetized when the platform matches them with credit card, loan, or insurance providers that pay per approved application. Competitive position rests on brand recognition, deep tax and accounting engines refined over decades, and an installed base that creates switching costs. Rivals include H&R Block, FreeTaxUSA, Xero, Sage, and Block's ecosystem. Revenue is overwhelmingly domestic.
