關於Comcast

Comcast Corporation is a global media and technology company built around two principal businesses. Connectivity & Platforms houses the domestic Xfinity cable operation, which sells residential and small-business broadband, wireless, video, and voice services, alongside a smaller UK-and-Europe broadband and pay-TV footprint operating under the Sky brand. Content & Experiences houses NBCUniversal, which encompasses the NBC and Telemundo broadcast networks, a portfolio of cable channels, the Peacock streaming service, the Universal Pictures film studio, and Universal theme parks in Orlando, Hollywood, Japan, and Beijing. The bulk of consolidated profit comes from the domestic residential broadband franchise, whose high incremental margins subsidise heavier investment cycles in streaming and parks.

Investors track the trajectory of residential broadband subscribers, where fixed wireless access from mobile carriers and municipal fibre overbuilds have compressed net-additions industry-wide, and the associated question of average revenue per user as the mix shifts. Regulatory exposure is broad: the FCC governs spectrum leased for Xfinity Mobile through an MVNO with Verizon, the FTC and Justice Department police programming and distribution consolidation, and Ofcom oversees Sky. The Roberts family retains voting influence through a supervoting share class, shaping capital allocation that has historically favoured buybacks, a growing dividend, and heavy capital expenditure on network upgrades and park expansions rather than transformative acquisitions.

The company traces to a single cable franchise Ralph Roberts acquired in Tupelo, Mississippi in 1963, incorporated in Pennsylvania as Comcast in 1969. Scale came through the 2002 acquisition of AT&T Broadband, which made Comcast the largest U.S. cable operator, followed by the transformative 2011 acquisition of a controlling stake in NBCUniversal from General Electric and the buyout of the remainder in 2013. The 2018 purchase of Sky added European pay-television and broadband. A proposed cable merger with Time Warner Cable collapsed under regulatory pressure in 2015. In late 2024, Comcast announced plans to spin off most of its cable-networks portfolio into a separate public company subsequently named Versant.

Revenues come from monthly recurring subscription fees paid by tens of millions of residential and business customers for broadband, wireless, and video packages, from advertising sold across NBCUniversal's linear and digital properties, from affiliate fees paid by other distributors to carry those networks, from theatrical and licensing revenue at Universal Pictures, and from ticket, hotel, and merchandise spending at the parks. Competitive position in connectivity rests on the reach of the hybrid-fibre-coaxial plant, which faces Charter, AT&T, Verizon Fios, T-Mobile, and regional fibre builders. In media, it competes with Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount, and Netflix. Revenue is predominantly domestic, with Sky and international parks providing a meaningful minority.
